Social Integration to teach the children arts works

Summer 2024 we welcome forty five (45) children from diverse community in Plymouth to develop Painting skills careers for them in Arts, under the supervision of nine (9) volunteers including Professional painter. The children composed of different abilities, and the painting skills will inspire them for a long time in the future, that will contribute to their future careers. 

Tamar Growth farm Visit by Children from Plymouth with Plymouth Jollof Kitchen Team 

Tamar Farm visit by immigrant children and young people from Plymouth to enhance their social integration with the British community. The children travelled to Tamar Farm from Plymouth by Train, which was an adventure to many them. The aimed of the farm visit is to expose the children and the young people to out door activities, acquaint themselves with farm machineries, learn skills on growing vegetables at home on their own. The children had activities on building scarecrow. Most of the children have never witness building scarecrow roll as this happens to be their first time. They were also shown how to extract oil from lavender plant.

One thing that I like about the farm was that all the farmers answered my questions and explained all the different plants.

What I like about the place was that they showed us different plant and I also like when I planted my plant and I also like when other people and me made scarecrow
What I like about the farm is the beautiful scenery, I got he opportunity to see. I also met some nice ladies and I also learnt the different can make. It was truly a wonderful experience.
First of all I want to say a big thank you to to the host, organisers and the farm owners. I really enjoyed visiting Tamar local farm at Carlington as my first time going to a vegetable farm in the UK. It was an amazing and educative visit. I saw different vegetables and flowers: Lavender, Sunflower, Calendulas and so on. We were taught on how to how perfumes can be produced Calendula and Lavender petals. We also, did some activities like colouring, played games, and made scarecrow to scare birds that eats the crops. It was such a great, fun learning experience. We await more visits to the farm.

Visit to Torpoint Library and Achieves by children from Plymouth

The visit to Torpoint Library and Achieves by immigrant children and young people from Plymouth and environs was aimed to equipped the children on the history of  Torpoint and inculcate the habit of reading. The children learnt about the first ferry in Torpoint. They were told the story of the world war and its relevance to Torpoint  as of that time. Each child was given a free book to take home. The visit has positively contributed to the life learning for the children and young people towards understanding the history of the south west England.

Jollof Pasties Cooking Session

Plymouth Jollof Kitchen hosted children and young person to equipped them with Cooking skills on making Pasties.
Teamwork:  Staff of Plymouth Jollof Kitchen taught the children Teamwork, and this have long term impact on the life of the children, which they will employ in their future careers. 
Skills related to use of tools and equipment, sourcing of ingredients, measuring of components, nutritional information and allergies, cleaning procedures, and general guidelines for personal hygiene were emphasized. This serves as foundation to maintaining health and safety in baking.
